Introduction

Lite-Check approached us with an existing Android application, seeking a user-centered design approach to expand into military use. With a team primarily composed of backend developers, they needed facilitation in ideating new features based on internal insights and UX research discoveries. Our challenge was to guide their team through a structured design process, ensuring the application was intuitive, effective, and aligned with military and vendor requirements.

To immerse in Lite-Check’s ecosystem, I conducted UX research, including business and stakeholder interviews, field studies, user interviews, and developer discussions. This process deepened my understanding of their software and its integration with real-world equipment, providing a solid foundation for the design phase.

Weekly meetings with Lite-Check’s team—comprising business owners, stakeholders, and lead developers—helped validate solutions and refine ideas. By navigating multiple inputs, we bridged the gap between business goals and technical feasibility. These insights informed detailed wireframes, optimizing user flow, refining features, and enhancing the application’s usability.

Once wireframes were approved, I led the design of high-fidelity prototypes and a comprehensive UI design system for both the Android app and onboard touchscreen interface. We delivered packaged design files to Lite-Check’s in-house developers and remained available to support implementation with tailored assets and technical guidance.

With a tight deadline, Lite-Check needed a swift yet thorough UX and design process to meet their military contract timeline. We not only delivered on time but also improved the application’s usability and functionality. As a result, Lite-Check secured the contract, and the product is now actively used by service members worldwide.
